    Welcome to the home page of Bill Trippett, W7VP.

    Here are some facts about my station.

    I was first licensed as a novice in 1958 as KN7ETP. I received my General Class license a few months later as K7ETP. My present call was issued in 1977 when the FCC first reissued the old 1x2 calls to licensees holding Amateur Extra Class licenses.

    My original home QTH was Redmond, Washington, but I have moved to several other locations before moving to Woodinville, in 2005.  Some of my friends may remember when I lived in Longview, WA, Pueblo, CO, Middleburg, VA and Ellensburg WA.

    My station includes the following:

    HF:

• Exciters: 2 Icom IC-756 Pro III's
• Amplifiers: 4-1000A on 80 through 10 (less WARC Bands); Ameritron AL-800H on 160 through 10 (including WARC Bands).  I recently rebuilt the 4-1000A to convert it from straight grounded grid/grounded screen to class AB2.  It puts out 1200 watts on CW with about 60 watts of input with 4000 VDC on the Plate and 500 VDC on the screen.  The AL-800H was converted from an AL-800 by adding the second 3CX800A7.  This was not particularly difficult since the AL-800 is already set up to be easily converted.

• 20-15-10 meters. Hi-Gain TH6DXX TRI-BAND yagi on a Tristao crank-up tower.  
• 5-element 20 meter MONOBAND yagi on a Rohn 45G tower.

    VHF:

• 6 Element 6-meter yagi above the 20 meter monobander.

    Digital Modes:

• Computer setup. 2.01 GHz AMD Athlon with three monitors. First monitor is has Windows software as well as MMTTY, DigiPan and DX Monitor as well as the MMTTY/MMVARI windows for Logger 32 and N1MM.  In the SO2R mode when running digital both of the digital interfaces are located on monitor 1.  For normal operations the second screen is Logger 32 with the local DX node via telnet and rig control.  During contests the second screen is N1MM Logger set up for rig control with both entry windows and bandmaps. The third screen is for the internet and other programs such as HamCall..   The HamCall CD ROM tie-in permits point and click look up from callsign data entered in Logger 32.  Recent versions also permit use of Logger 32 for digital modes and includes a clickable bandmap.
